Cedar Run Brewery and NVUS teams up to host a benefit for Maui and Lahaina Fire Disaster!
Cool, last minute no notice performance and jams hosted courtesy of Northern Virginia Ukulele Society (NVUS) and Cedar Run Brewery!
Many of you have read the devastation of the Lahaina wildfires and how many people was lost and displaced. The Aloha that sprung up from the islands to the world is very heartwarming. The Society has already participated and will continue as long as there is a call. Come out and join your fellow members. Some of those Society members are also Ensemble members. A mix of performances, jams, and solo/duet performances. Come enjoy and buy, or just directly donate. All proceeds from NVUS will be donated (tips, donations, and possibly sales) to both Hawaii Community Foundation and Maui Food Bank.

Wanted to thank all of the Society members that came out! Saw Lee, John King, Catherine and Nelson Wu, Ellen, Gary Haskins, Rebecca, and others. It was a full house and we raised more than $2,300 for Maui Food Bank and Hawaii Community Fund’s #MauiStrongFund (that we know of — if donations during our event was made and they didn’t let us know, we don’t know).
Also want to thank all of the Society’s Ensemble performers today: @AmyDevine (Soprano and Alto section lead), @AmyOwsenek (UBass), @SoniaPatterson, @DavidBartell (Tenor section lead), @BrianOwsenek, @QuangTran, @RickWeiss, and of course myself as Music Director.
Oh forgot… if you came out and go the leadsheets for the jams after the Ensemble’s set, it was rather short. We are going to play all of the songs at this coming Sunday’s Primer, Jams, and Open Mic.
Nelson and I will attend this event as supporting audiences….. thank you.
Thank you. Don’t forget to bring your uke. See you soon!
