Event Type

This is a Northern Virginia Ukulele Society (NVUS) Education Outreach Program @ Dolley Madison Library.

Society trained volunteers are led by the designated trained Society lead volunteer.  They integrate children’s songs interactively with the books being ready by the library staff or volunteer.  Attendances have ranged from 5 to 150+.  Doesn’t take much to get the training, and only takes you to be active to participate.  Come join your fellow members in bringing music to the pre-school children local library reading program.

Dolly Madison Library has extended a standing invitation to the Society to participate as part of their Children Stories program which they now call Stories and Songs. The Pilot program demonstrated a wildly promising success with up to 100 children, parents, and designated caregivers attending. Today, the super fun program engaging children in music and stories where attendance occasionally exceeds 120+.

Want to help? Volunteer, get trained, then participate! Once trained you can volunteer for dates that are during the weekday, week night, or even weekend. We have another library who discovered what we are doing and want part of the game. We can only expand as many volunteers and leader volunteers we have to participate. Contact info@NoVA-Uke.org for more details.

Request only trained volunteers RSVP. Once RSVP, annotated tracking spreadsheet on designated OneDrive to note your interest.

If you wish to observe before deciding to join us, please RSVP. After you RSVP and refresh the event, please make a comment that you are attending to observe. Please ask questions of the volunteers, even the lead because perhaps you’d like to lead one of these events. Contact info@NoVA-Uke.org to sign up or ask further questions.

We are still seeking candidates to volunteer as our Society’s Associate Director for Outreach Program. This volunteer will work closely with the Society’s Programs Director and head of the Society.
