A standard Northern Virginia Ukulele Society double meeting on 2nd Sunday's -- NVUS Primer and NVUS Group Lesson on the Lake. This particular 2nd Sunday was actually held on the 1st Sunday of December to accommodate the owner and sponsor, Café Montmartre and the increased need for holiday party space at the Café. ** The Primer provides beginner lesson from scales (picking single notes), chorded scales (3 chords), and harmonized chorded scales (7 chords, the 8th being a next higher inversion of the root chord) ** The Group Lesson provides lessons that span from beginner strumming techniques to fancy rhythmic strumming to get the club ready for communtiy performances.

MC'd by President, Director, Assistant Instructor as directed and accepted by Society Members. Instrument primarily ukulele but can include (not replace) any instrument.

4th Sunday Jams and songs, normally on a 4th Sunday, was postponed to 9/2 at the request of the owner and our sponsors. Jams and Songs - a means for Society members to share a song they'd like to lead the attending members in playing and singing. Some members plan ahead and get some of the more experienced members to help fill out the vocal or instrumental backups, even bass playing. Isn't it time for you to share what you like to play?

These are photographs taken by the library staff at Dolley Madison Regional Library in Falls Church. The program was well attended for the first of its kind in Fairfax County -- 66 children ages 2-9, and 22 adult caregiver or parents. Some brought their own ukulele. NVUS had 3 Waterman on hand. More may be on the way.

Northern Virginia Ukulele Society's (NVUS') Ensemble (NVUE) was requested to perform at a local brewery

The Society's Ensemble was invited to perform as one of the NOVA Open's (http://www.novaopen.com/) weeklong acts in the evening after a day of table top games. The Ensemble had a great time and grateful for the opportunity to share our love of the ukulele.
